Coming soon: a fresher, cleaner Client Portal

Laura Elizabeth Last update:

We've been heads-down on a batch of updates to Client Portal, and they're nearly ready to go. Nothing has been rebuilt from scratch (your portals will look familiar) but a lot of the small friction points have been ironed out.

Here's a quick summary of what's changed:

A refreshed portal design

The layout is the same, but we've improved the typography and readability throughout, updated the menu, and added the option to include a subheading under each phase title.

More information on module cards

Modules now show due dates, completion status, file counts, and comment counts directly on the card - so clients can see what's going on without having to click into everything.

Better context inside modules

You can now add optional text above and/or below any module. Useful for telling clients exactly what they need to upload, or giving a bit of context before they download something.

Clearer file uploads

We redesigned the upload area so it's more obvious when a file has gone through successfully - a small change that should save a few "did my upload work?" messages.

Overhauled content pages

Content pages now support more blocks — pull quotes, call-outs, tables, image galleries - and they pick up your portal colours automatically. They just look a lot better.

Restyled comments

Replies now collapse into drop-downs, making comment threads much easier to scan when things get busy.

The update is in testing now. If you'd like early access and are happy to test on a staging site, get in touch.

Laura created Client Portal in 2016 after working as a freelance designer for a decade. Client Portal was born out of the need for a simple tool that allows clients to access their project deliverables. Since then, it has grown into an 8,000+ customer-strong product that helps any service provider, from freelancers to law firms. In her spare time, Laura likes to sew clothes and quilts, play the piano, and hang out with her husband and children.
