Client Portal version v.4.12 has been released! Today's update is the single most requested feature we get, so as you can imagine, I'm pretty pumped to have it released 💪.

 

Automatic Portal Creation and Self Signup: All you need to know

This new update comes in two parts. First is the automatic portal creation which was stealthily released a couple of months ago.

 

As some of you may have noticed, when you add a new user with the role CP Client, you get a set of options appear which will allow you to create and assign a portal to them in just a couple of clicks.

👉 Check out this help doc to see how this feature works and how to set it up.But the second part of the update is what we are really excited about. As of today you can now put a registration form on your website and have clients sign up themselves to be added to a portal! 🎉

We're constantly releasing new fixes and smaller features for Client Portal. We won't list them all here but you can check out our changelog to see everything that's been happening.

 

Some of the updates include:

  • Added a notification setting for when a new client has been created.
  • Added an option to remove the CP Projects column from the Content Pages admin list (if you have a lot of content pages and find they are laggy or slow, removing this column should fix it). You can find this setting under the Misc tab in Client Portal Settings.
  • Fixed the password protected form on WPEngine.
  • Fixed the notification settings not being respected when no recipients selected.

What's next for Client Portal?

As it's getting close to the end of the year, it's time to start planning what we are going to be doing in 2022.

 

We are going to release a couple of extra features to the self signup next month and we will continue to release any fixes or improvements between now and the end of the year.

 

But since we've been heads down and getting this new feature released we haven't had a chance to completely finalise the plan for the rest of 2021 and 2022 so that is our goal over the next few weeks.

 

I'm going to release an annual review for Client Portal towards the end of the year where I will talk about what we've been doing this past year and I'll go into detail about what you can expect next year. We have some ideas in mind but we're still finalising the 2022 roadmap.
