How to install Client Portal
This guide will walk you through installing the Client Portal plugin on your WordPress site and activating your license to unlock all features.
Before you begin
Make sure you have:
WordPress 6.5 or higher
PHP 7.4 or higher
Admin access to your WordPress site
Your purchase receipt email from Client Portal
Back up your site before installing new plugins. This ensures you can restore your site in the unlikely event anything goes wrong.
Step 1: Download the plugin
After purchasing Client Portal, you'll receive an email with a download link and your license key. The email includes:
A link to download the plugin ZIP file (named something like
leco-client-portal.zip)Your unique license key (a 32-character code)
Your account login details
Click the download link in your purchase email to save the ZIP file to your computer. Keep it as a ZIP file—don't extract it.
If you're using Safari on Mac, it may automatically extract ZIP files. You can disable this feature in Safari's preferences, or simply re-compress the extracted folder into a ZIP file.
Step 2: Upload and activate the plugin
In your WordPress admin dashboard:
Navigate to Plugins → Add New
Click the Upload Plugin button at the top of the page
Click Choose File and select the ZIP file you downloaded
Click Install Now
Once installation completes, click Activate
After activation, Client Portal will automatically create a login page at /client-portal-login/ and add a "Clients" menu to your WordPress admin.
Step 3: Activate your license
As soon as you activate the plugin, you'll see a prompt asking you to enter your license key. This happens automatically—you don't need to navigate to settings.
Copy your license key from your purchase receipt email
Paste it into the license key field in the prompt
Click Activate
You'll see a green success message: "License activated successfully. Enjoy premium features!"
Your license gives you access to plugin updates, premium features, and our support team. Without an active license, you'll see a yellow notice and won't be able to use the plugin.
Manage your account
You can manage your subscription, view your license details, and download the plugin anytime by logging into your account here. Use the email address and password from your purchase receipt.
From your account dashboard, you can:
Download the latest plugin version
View your license key
Manage billing and subscriptions
Deactivate your license to move it to another site
Next steps
Once your license is activated, you're ready to customize your portal settings and create your first client portal. Navigate to Clients → Client Portal Settings to configure branding, colors, and notifications.
Troubleshooting
Invalid license key error
If you see an "Invalid license key" message:
Double-check that you copied the entire license key from your email (no extra spaces)
Log into your account at https://client-portal.io/login/ to verify your key
Make sure you're using the correct email address associated with your purchase
White screen or fatal error after activation
This usually means your server doesn't meet the minimum requirements. Check that you're running WordPress 6.5+ and PHP 7.4+. Contact your hosting provider to update if needed.
Can't see plugin updates
Plugin updates require an active license. If your license has expired or isn't activated, you won't receive updates. Activate your license or renew your subscription to restore update access.
Moving your license to another site
Single Site licenses work on one production site plus one local development site. To move your license:
Log into https://client-portal.io/login/
Deactivate the license from your old site
Install and activate the plugin on your new site
Enter your license key when prompted
Multi-Site licenses allow installation on additional sites. If you need to install Client Portal on multiple client sites, make sure you have the appropriate Multi-Site license. you can upgrade any time via your account area.
